help a child at risk

Saewang

Saewang Hkomkit

Age: 11

Favorite Subject: Art

When he grows up: When I grow up I would like to be a school teacher. I would like to teach other orphans like me.

Favorite Chore: Washing Dishes

Background: "My parents were killed in the conflicts between the Burmese military and Karen soldiers. I miss them, and the village I lived in before, and my grandmother. "

Saewang and many children like him have been taken in by people who care. Without this help he would be begging, living on the streets, in danger of both deportation to Burma and exploitation by sex traffickers.

But his future remains unsure. Without the financial support that The Charis Project gives to the children's home he lives in, through child sponsorship, that children's home will not be able to pay it's bills, the children will be deported or enslaved and the people who care for them put in jail for debt.

Your gift of $35/month can help make sure that never happens. It takes so little to save a life.

Sponsored children receive:

  •  food
  • shelter
  • education
  • job training
  • a home environment in their native language and culture
  • Some have obtained Thai citizenship.
  • A chance for a better future than their parents could have imagined.

Each child needs two sponsors to fully cover all expenses. There will only ever be two sponsors/child. Sponsors can exchange correspondence with their sponsored child, as well as get regular updates on their progress.
